Is it okay to leave a laptop cooling pad running all the time?

Question by Nicole: Is it okay to leave a laptop cooling pad running all the time?
I just bought it, and my laptop is new, but I only got it to be safe because my other laptop overheated and died. I would like to leave the cooling pad on the whole time the laptop is running which is usually 5 or more hours a day without a break. Would it be okay to leave the cooling pad on?

Best answer:

Answer by Chris aka Master860
Yes Nicole why not? The only concern you should have is dust build up other then that it should be fine. It should be fine if kept on all day and all week (Not recommended for the life of your laptop nor your cooling pad) only damage you will be doing is shorting the life of the product. You can always check with your cooling pad manufacture on what is the recommended hours of use but it will be ok. Just keep it clean and nice and it will last long.

Can I still change my mind about a paid, final sale laptop if the store still has it?

Question by Vanessa: Can I still change my mind about a paid, final sale laptop if the store still has it?
I bought a refurbished laptop at the Sony Outlet Store yesterday. It was the last unit and it was the display model. Apparently display items are final sale. I paid for it and I was told I need to come back later so they can reset the whole thing. I changed my mind overnight and now I’m wondering if I should be able to still get a refund if I never took the laptop home with me.

Best answer:

Answer by Laptop Repair
You can call them or go there… and you can ask them really nicely.

However, you need to be prepared for them to say NO. You already know the reason why they could say No and feel fine about it. “Display Items are Final Sale”. You said it yourself. It doesn’t matter if they still have it. You paid them, you have the receipt. You bought it. That means they sold it to you. So, technically, they have every right to say No… you are stuck with it, since you bought it.

It doesn’t matter if they still have it. If you brought a Sony laptop in for repairs that you had for 6 months, would you be able to turn around and say “Hey, since you now have the laptop, I want you to give me a refund on it…. you know, since you have it and all.”? No, you would not.

This doesn’t mean they WILL… this just means they can, and they would be justified. You knew it was a final sale when you bought it… and now you are hoping they didn’t really mean it was a final sale.

Caveat Emptor. Buyer Beware.

What is the best way to get a discount on a Mac laptop that is still under warranty?

Question by Mokaddasa: What is the best way to get a discount on a Mac laptop that is still under warranty?
I’m ready to have a good, reliable laptop with which I may travel easily. I go to Umass Boston and I know there is a student discount but I assume there has to be some other ways to get discounts on laptops through computer drives or other companies, websites, orgs, coupons, etc? I don’t mind something refurbished, display models or unpopular styles, colors, etc. I just need for it to be under the full warranty which allows you to bring the laptop to the Apple store for services and repairs.

Best answer:

Answer by Kahless
The Apple website sells refurbished models which are under full Apple warranty. Also try www.smalldog.com. Odds are though you won’t need the warranty, except maybe the phone support.

What is the best kind of processer for a laptop computer? Also what is the best brand of laptop?

Question by TAZZLOVER8: What is the best kind of processer for a laptop computer? Also what is the best brand of laptop?
I am buying a laptop very soon and I need to know what is the best kind of processor. Both of my desktops are pentium, but I hear that those are not always the best kind to use. I will be using my laptop instead of my desktop. I primarily use my computer to game. I am trying to look for the best laptop for me. And I know that how you use it makes a difference.
Thank you everyone!

I have a computer friend who I think I can get to install additional ram… but I am familar with how important adequate ram is.

I plan to buy an external hard drive, so I am not concerned with how big the hard drive is. I know using an external hard drive will slow the usage down a lot. So I know the processer will be even more taxed than usual.

As for price, I am not really worried about it. I am getting this as a gift and was told that price is not an object. The only constraint I am working with is I have to get it from one particular person. Apparently, this person is selling it to the person I am getting it from for the price he got it for.

They just bought a Toshiba Satellite a205-s4707 for 400 bucks (regularly 900) from this person for themselves.

I will have a limited selection of brand and stuff to pick from and I need to basically select the best one for me out of the ones he has. :)

Best answer:

Answer by jimponder
Use a pentium processor (not celeron). They seem to be most reliable, but also the more expensive of the bunch.
If you are gaming, think about an AMD then…

Get a duo if you can afford it.

Brand: who cares, as long as the stuff inside is good.

Laptop sleeve?

laptop sleeve
by Mesq

Question by chicka: Laptop sleeve?
Im going back to uni in a week and i just bought a new laptop to weeks ago. Its alot smaller then my old one so all the bags and stuff are too big for it. I will be taking it to uni but this semester i wanted a sleeve so i can put the laptop in my bag instead of carrying around 1 bag with books and another with a laptop. It is very uncomfortable. So my question is what should i look for in a sleeve that will keep my laptop safe in a bag with text books, pens and what ever else i need to take? i have found out the vary in cost and all feel different. Is it the thicker the sleeve the better? or…

Best answer:

Answer by Computer Spaz
The thicker the sleeve, the more protection it provides, make sure the bag has 2 or more slots (one especially for the laptop) and the rest for books, so the laptop doesn’t get damaged.
