You’re probably going to be multi-tasking..so you’ll want a good amount of memory. I’d recommend ATLEAST 1GB of RAM..if you’re not getting a Macbook/Macbook Pro..the laptop will most likely have Windows Vista on it, with no option of going back to XP so i’d recommend that you find one with 2GB RAM. Of course you’ll want a good hard drive, since you’ll be storing downloads. So i’d say a hard drive anywhere from 120-200 GB. 100 at the least, because you can always get a portable external hard drive or purchase up up to 16GB flash drive. You’ll also want to look for a good processor. Any Intel Dual-Core or Core 2 Duo processor would be the way to go, of course the Core 2 Duo would be better. You’ll be dealing with photos so you’ll probably want to ask which one has a good graphics card or graphics chip installed into it. HP’s usually have good graphics because they are “entertainment” pc’s. But in a nutshell you want to look for: A good processor, 1-2GB of RAM (you can always upgrade your RAM), atLEAST 100GB hard drive (with option of purchasing portable external hard drive), and good graphics. So make sure the sales person knows what he/she is talking about

Question by Looking at an Infiniti: What is the best portable, business laptop?
I’m in the market for a new laptop that I plan on using for business purposes. I will most likely need to install the standard software plus some other stuff. I plan on using it heavily and storing a lot of data on it. Plan to use it for a year or more. I also would prefer a relatively sleek looking laptop as I do want to impress folks with it and something that isn’t big as I will be using it extensively for travel.
Any suggestions?

I’m not familiar with business running, but I can tell you here in the US most private computer stores specialize in parts, repair, and custom builds, they don’t deal in name brand because of the low profit mark up on them, usually only 2%-3%, there is no room for discounts or profit at those prices, especially seeing that the larger retailers sell the same systems for only 3%-5% above cost and they get them cheaper than the smaller business do.

I just bought a lenovo thinkpad edge 14, and it is marketed as a business laptop. I bought it for college and plan to use it as a normal laptop. Is there any reason that lenovo and the thinkpad line are geared as business laptops, or are they the same as mainstream laptops?
