How do I extend my laptop display to our vizio lcd tv using SVGA cable?

Question by Daniel E: How do I extend my laptop display to our vizio lcd tv using SVGA cable?
We are using an SVGA cable male to male. We connected the cables first to the laptop and tv when it’s powered off and then when we turned on the laptop, changed the display properties(step by step) as mentioned here in Y answers. But still our tv just says “Not Supported” even if we changed the input to ‘RGB’ already and then our laptop screen just goes black. We need to unplug the cable from the laptop again in order to navigate.. What seems to the problem?

Well , you could be using the WRONG Refresh rate or resolution setting on your computer….

Set it to 60 Hz refresh rate and KEEP that setting…then start at any hhhh x 480 resolution setting and move up to hhhh x 720 settings and finally stop at 1920 x 1080. You will note that several settings will not provide a picture. Those are the ones that the TV will not process….

Now, if you still get NO PICTURE at all then replace the signal board, or the cable…

Question by : Is cash for laptops a scam?
I am planning to sell my old laptop, because I now have a new one. I went on the website and it seemed legitimate because it was Verisign secured. I got a quote and they gave me a dollar amount that they could send me by check if I shipped my old working laptop to them. Is this a scam or is this legitimate?

Toshiba Portege R700 – Best value for money?

Question by Ibanezman29: Toshiba Portege R700 – Best value for money?
Hey there!
I was looking for a new ultraportable for when school starts , and was checking out the Toshiba Portege R700 and it looks like the best i can get for the money!
Just wondering if there are any better alternatives?

Portege R700 : http://www.trustedreviews.com/laptops/review/2010/08/11/Toshiba-Port-g–R700/p1

Thanks!

Answer by bon-gart
Because you are specifically seeking an ultraportable, this really is the best value for the money you are spending. If it were just another Toshiba, I’d say it was a tad expensive… however, u;tra-thin and ultra-light laptops do cost more. Typically they suffered in the processor department, however, the R700 is shipping with Intel Core i processors… which make them quite powerful.

All the reviews I find on this series are praising it. So… if this one has the weight and size you are looking for, buy it with confidence. Not only is it a sweet laptop, it’s a Toshiba.

end of line

Samsung SF511 laptop review?

Question by : Samsung SF511 laptop review?
I searched the internet for a decent review of this laptop. But hardly found 3-5 reviews overall.
SO I decided to give a review my self.
I bought this laptop on 01/10/11.
I bought it from letsbuy.com for 40,500 Rs
The Laptop is Samsung SF511S02IN.
Key Features

• 15.6-inch SuperBright LED HD display
• Intel® Core™ i5 – 2410M Processor
• 640GB SATA Hard Disk; 4 GB of RAM
• Wireless-N Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n)
• Bluetooth 3.0
• 3 USB 2.0 port; Micro SD slot; 1.3-MP HD webcam
• Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
The laptop best feature is 3X long battery life. I regularly get 9 hrs of battery life.
Under moderate usage.
I remain on wifi for the all 9 hrs.
It charges up in 3 hrs.
Display:
The screen is brilliant. It has excellent viewing angles. And very bright. Even in lowest brightness settings you can view without any problem. 15,6 ” is quite spacious. But the resolution remains at 1366 X 768. Not the HD resolution. But we can easily see HD videos without any problem.
Processor:
2nd Gen core i5 Processor. Its quite quick and 100 processes will add up to only 3-5% of the load.
It usually does not heat up until u game continuously for 2 hrs. For normal coders and ppl who want to watch for entertainment then it will not heat up.
4GB Ram/640 GB HDD
4 GB Ram just enough for a 64 bit OS. But you get enough storage space with 640 GB.
The HDD does not make any sound. Only the optical drive makes sound here and there.
1 GB Graphics card. NVIDIA Optimus DDR3
Its a entry level graphics FIFA series games should work fine..
Keyboard & Touchpad
The keyboard is spacious with 102 keys and full numeric keypad. The keys have excellent feedback.
Touchpad has a very nice feedback. It also pinch zoom and various gestures supports.

Overall its awesome laptop to have. Its Ideal for browsing web, Developing applications and Processor intensive Task.
BATTERY: Its inbuilt batteries that is the only disadvantage according to me. But it gives awesome backup.
